Set in Hulme, Manchester, Leaf St: Re-appropriating Hulme high st is a project which aims to get those who are homeless or unemployed back into work and society whilst encouraging the integration of the loclities in Hulme.  Acknowleding the issue of homelessness in Manchester and of unemployment in Hulme the two issues have been combined with a need for a vibrant and integrated high st within the ward. Leaf St aims to resolve these issues through learning and training in the onsite training centre. The centre trains those who are homeless or unemployed in skills for the workplace, their training then implimented within the retail units. The overall aim being to get the participants back into jobs, earn money and reintegrate back into society. Resolving this within the environment of a high st creates a social realm where people come to interact within the everyday. Currently Hulme lacks a space where this can happen with ease. The overarching concept of creating co-loclity manifests itself in this, with spaces designed specifically to engage the localities of Hulme.
