The Training Centre acts as the landmark for the scheme. A place for learning, developing skills and integration. The building is the first point of the journey for the scheme and becomes the anchor point for the participants throughout their time within the scheme. The centre aims to train the unemployed and homeless in skills for the workplace, business and award qualifications. As they develop skills in the training centre participants then gain jobs within the retail units where they can gain experience, open their own store and develop specific skills related to retail. The Training Centre adopts a simple steel frame structure with Scottish larch cladding continued from the retail units creating a material language on site. The base of building is clad in locally sourced brick, sitting the building within the context of Hulme.
