RE-THINKING PLAN
1. Axo diagram of the plan an building form as we ended 3.1. What I didn't like about this plan was how blocky the plan had become, the plan became unexciting and sizing too large.
2. The grid which I had overlayed onto the site to form the building shapes had hindered my design instead of edifying. I took away the grid allowing the site to breath and more geometric and organise forms to flow.
3. The positioning of the original homeless shelter worried me in how public and overpowering it had become. The topography of the site allowed me to move the building to the back of the site which is quieter and holds a more domestic feel. This also ties in with where I originally saw homeless activity taking place on the site.
4. The training centre originally sat on the plan of the public baths. However, I decided to form the training centre into one building, un-intergrating from the shops. This seperation contributes to the overall feeling of the journey. Each step allowing themselves to have their own identity and independence. As I placed the form together I decided to set it back where the homeless centre once stood, yet still in relation to the public baths.
5. I realigned the form of the shopping units into two arms which are orientated diagonally. This allows for the flow through the shops up into the training centre, but also for the outward flow of people from the training centre into the shops. Seperating these building allows for circulation around them as well as a starting point to rearrange space within them.
