This project is set in the ward of Hulme, Manchester. The chosen site is a disused green space just off Leaf St. The site is home to Spider park which has become neglected over time, although partially covered in trees the main use for the site today is the footpath which runs alongside the key transportation artery Princess parkway leading into the city centre.
The aim of this project is to resolve the two issues uncovered from research into Hulme. Reappropriating the high st and housing the homeless of Manchester. The scheme aims to create a co-locality by drawing in the localities of Hulme to one place. The is aim is to create attractive public space intertwined with shopping units as well as the space becoming a learning environment for business minded people from Hulme and homeless people in need of employment who are guests at the homeless shelter on site.
